Banana Pudding

Okay, let me see how I want to start this one. I will take it all the way back to when I was a lad. I have always loved Banana Pudding MINUS the banana. It's a texture thing. The bananas get all slippery and slimy and ummm......wet. Anyway, my Godfather spoiled me. He would make banana pudding for the family and always make me some (without bananas) and put it to the side. Well my Gdaddy is 9.5 hours away and I can't get my special banana pudding unless I go home and he has time to do it.

Fast forward, I have been wanting some banana pudding in the worse way. So I decided I would make it myself. My Gdaddy always said, "It's the recipe on the box baby." Well I did it! :) Well it wasn't right! :( I was missing that banana flavor or something. It also was a tad to thick. His pudding is on the thinner side. My child and I ate it; but it wasn't what I really wanted. It was good, but not magical. (Yes, I was expecting to see fairies and fairy dust in my kitchen when I pulled it out the oven.)

I hate box jello pudding. It's too thick as well. So I guess it's back to the drawing board for me. I was so excited but I think he did or does something a little differently from the recipe on the box.

That is too funny about the Banana Pudding w/o the Banana's. I feel the same way but never completely omitted the banana. Not yet anyway. LOL When I make one I only use like 2 banana's sliced really thin. My cousin in Lousiana stopped using banana's and renamed it "cookie pudding". LOL Love the blog Tee! h

WOW. We get each other. I hate putting "bananas" in Banana Pudding. I hate how the next day the bananas look brown and are squishy. yuck. No one around me gets this. I always get asked "how can you eat Banana Pudding without bananas?" Your blog is lovely. We share similar interests.
